I think we are all star-f***ers to varying degrees. The whole celebrity thing comes out of a fear of death, which is what art has always been about. The desire to draw is fundamental to art. Connected to that is a desire to be the best drawer in the class. Then the class gets bigger and bigger and that grows into a desire to be the most famous artist in the world. You meet famous people and it makes you feel closer to being immortal in some way.
